APCO: Senior Director, Strategy

Nic is a communications strategist with over 30 years’ experience in helping governments and organisations to successfully and sustainably manage reputational risk.  After starting his career as a chemical engineer in 1984, Nic progressed to work as a financial and commodity risk management specialist in the City of London. In 1992 he transitioned into corporate strategy, and in 2003 began to specialise in strategic communications.  He was seconded to Brand Dubai in 2006 to manage a series of politically sensitive issues that were negatively impacting the reputation of Dubai.  In 2012 he was appointed as a senior advisor to the Office of Government Communications of the Abu Dhabi Government.  He joined APCO in 2014 as the senior director of strategy.  Nic provides communications strategy, issue, crisis and change management advice, and communication capacity building to APCO's corporate and government clients. Current clients include the governments of Bahrain and Saudi Arabia, and corporations such Lockheed Martin, Mars, and Mubadala Aerospace.

Nic holds a B.Sc in Chemical Engineering, an MBA, an MA in East Asian Studies, an M.Litt in Terrorism Studies and an M.Sc in Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability Studies.  His area of expertise lies at the nexus of climate change, sustainability and national security.
