Chris Perry is Chief Innovation at Weber Shandwick, a leading global communications and marketing solutions firm with offices in 79 cities and a global network extending to 129 cities. Chris specializes in helping clients decode the rapidly changing media environment and crafting strategies to keep them ahead of the curve. He translates trends into tangible commercial opportunities, drawing on more than 20 years of digital and media experience. Chris has counseled global business leaders including IBM, General Motors, PepsiCo, Novartis, Verizon Wireless and Unilever on transformational communications programs as well as groundbreaking social impact campaigns, including the launch of Standup2Cancer, which has raised hundreds of millions of dollars for life-saving cancer studies.

Chris leads a team of more than 1,000 specialists across creative technology, data and analytics, performance media, UX, business intelligence and media R&D. He is actively involved in collaborative partnerships and agency mergers and acquisitions within IPG, including R/GA’s Tech Accelerator and integrating new capabilities into Weber Shandwick’s global operations through additions of Flipside (a London-based mobile marketing and ecommerce agency); Cappuccino (a São Paulo based digital marketing and media firm); Resolute (a New York-based performance media agency); Bomoda (a Beijing-based data science and media intelligence start-up); and That Lot (a London-based, platform-first social creative agency).

Chris has been a driving force behind Weber Shandwick’s continued growth and industry accolades, including Advertising Age A-List honors, more than a dozen PRWeek and Holmes Report Global Agency of the Year awards and numerous Cannes Lions and Effies. Under his guidance and leadership, the firm has introduced award-winning products including Mediaco, a pioneering brand publishing practice; GoLive, a first-of-its-kind Live storytelling unit; Firebell, a social crisis simulator that can test market reaction to brand crises and creative ideas; and most recently, Q, an enterprise platform fueled by machine learning and AI to streamline brands’ social customer service operations.

Chris consults, writes and speaks on the impact of technology in building brands and protecting corporate reputation. Over the years, his writing and work have been featured in ForbesFortune, Ad AgeStrategy + BusinessThe New York Times and the Washington Post. He is regular speaker and contributor at events that include Advertising Week, SXSW, Fast Company's Innovation Festival, Digital Age (Brazil), Collision and World 50. In addition, Chris has guest lectured at Northwestern and NYU. He has also served on the 2019 Effie US Awards Grand Jury, and authors the Media/Genius Study Guide and weekly newsletter.

Chris is an investor in tech incubator Social Starts, which focuses on the emerging science and technology of health and happiness, and he serves on the board of PowerMyLearning, a national education nonprofit that strengthens learning relationships between students, teachers and families in low income communities.
